Project Overview

While at P3 Media, I was tasked with redesigning the website for Summer House Patio, a long-standing, family-owned Pacific Northwest retailer specializing in premium outdoor furniture. I worked primarily on improving the homepage, product landing page, product pages, as well as add-to-cart functionality for both desktop and mobile.

Objective

Building on the site’s existing strong brand elements and high-quality imagery, my objective was to elevate the overall visual identity while preserving the power of their photography. By introducing a modern header typeface and refining both existing and new UI components, I aimed to create a better user experience while keeping an elevated look that focusses on featuring the products in context and by themselves.

Strategy & Design

After auditing the original design, I focused on implementing higher converting improvements to help with the overall shopping experience. I introduced a more elevated and distinctive typeface ‘Minerva’ for headings while keeping ‘Inter’ as a clean supporting font. I restructured the navigation into clear categories and added a dedicated 'Shop By Category' section early on the page, using evergreen imagery to visually guide users. To improve readability, I eliminated text overlays across their high-quality images, allowing the visuals to breathe. To improve conversion, I added sticky CTA’s as well created bundles for their collections as well as upsells in the Checkout Cart. Finally, I leveraged their social media content to build a more robust footer and contact section, making it easier for users to locate nearby stores.
